What does support look like for dads who don't live with their children?
For lone fathers and dads parenting across households, sharing care can mean navigating services that haven't always been designed with dads in mind.
Despite continuing to play an important part in their children’s lives, these dads often find themselves marginalised or caught between systems.
In this DADx Talk, our CEO Cathy Sexton will briefly draw on years of Fathers Network Scotland’s annual dads surveys to explore the realities lone fathers face, including the pressures on their wellbeing and mental health.
We’ll then look at the issue through a Fife case study, hearing from Gordon Jones, Support Worker at Fife Gingerbread, and the Glenrothes Area Welfare Support Team. They’ll share their experiences of fathers parenting across households when accessing support, and how services can respond.
With plenty of time for open discussion and questions, the session will give participants the opportunity to explore how we can better recognise and include dads sharing care in our work, and take away practical ideas they can apply within their own organisations and services.
