DADx - Domestic violence what is the societal response?

Social distancing and self-isolation could have very real consequences for people experiencing domestic abuse. How should society respond?

Zoom Invitation

On Thursday 4 June at 2pm join Graham Goulden, Former Chief Inspector, Police Scotland’s Violence Reduction Unit & Director of ‘Cultivating Minds’ to discuss this issue.

There are alarming signs of the rise in domestic abuse with multiple support services reporting a surge in calls to domestic abuse helplines. MPs have demanded an urgent cross-government action plan on how to tackle increasing levels of domestic abuse under the lockdown, warning that without intervention, “society will be dealing with the devastating consequences for a generation”.

For the last eight years of his policing career Graham was a Chief Inspector and a key member of the Scottish Violence Reduction Unit. Respected across the world for its work in reducing violence, this innovative organisation brought a new approach to an age-old problem. Since leaving the force Graham continues to speak passionately about violence reduction and the need for society to pull together against the often invisible crime of domestic abuse.
